Hi, I’m Gemma — a qualified Social Sciences teacher with QTS, based in the North West of England.

With over 14 years’ teaching experience, I’ve developed a deep understanding of how young minds learn, grow, and thrive. I’ve spent my career specialising in Psychology, leading a successful Social Science department and teaching a wide range of subjects including science, dance, and citizenship. That cross‑disciplinary background gives me a creative edge: I love bringing lessons to life through stories, movement, real‑world examples, and meaningful connections that help every learner feel engaged and capable.

A teacher shaped by real relationships and real learners

Beyond the classroom, I’ve supported students as a personal tutor — guiding them through UCAS applications, building academic confidence, and helping them take the next steps toward their future. I’m passionate about making psychology accessible and relatable, and I love empowering learners through engaging content, encouragement, and a dash of creativity.

How home‑ed changed everything

I never planned to teach online. It happened because of two wonderful humans — my children — who teach me something new every single day. In 2023, our family began our home‑education journey, and by 2024 I stepped away from the traditional classroom to focus full‑time on educating my own children and developing Psych with Gem.

Teaching my children at home reminded me of what learning can be when curiosity leads the way: joyful, meaningful, and deeply personal. It inspired me to create a space where psychology feels alive, accessible, and genuinely useful — whether a learner is preparing for exams or simply exploring psychology for the joy of it.

Examiner insight with a human touch

As an experienced examiner for both AQA A‑level Psychology and Edexcel GCSE Psychology, I bring clarity, structure, and insight into what helps learners succeed. But more importantly, I want psychology to help young people understand themselves, understand others, and navigate the world with confidence.

Psychology isn’t just a subject — it’s a toolkit for life.

What I offer

  • 1:1 and small‑group tuition

  • Recorded lessons and digital resources

  • Curiosity‑led sessions for home‑ed families

  • Exam‑focused support grounded in examiner insight

My philosophy

  • Learning should feel safe, supported, and full of possibility.

  • Curiosity should lead. Confidence should grow.

  • Psychology should feel alive.

Whether your child is preparing for GCSE or A‑level success, or simply exploring human behaviour for the joy of it, they’re welcome here. I’m here to support, guide, and inspire every step of the way.
