Today’s Reflections: Gratitude and Growth

Today, I sat in a women’s circle—a space of quiet reflection and a sisterhood with shared storied, we spoke about gratitude, and as soon as it was spoken aloud, my mind filled with faces, voices, and moments that have helped me build Psych with Gem.

I thought first of the parents—those who have entrusted me with the privilege of supporting their children through their psychology studies. Your belief in me, your openness, and your partnership have been the foundation of everything I do.
Then I thought of the learners. The ones who show up, ask questions, challenge ideas, and grow. You make this work meaningful. You remind me why psychology matters—not just as a subject, but as a way of understanding ourselves and others.
I’m grateful for the online community of parents and tutors who have liked, shared, and recommended my work. Every gesture has helped me grow my reach and connect with families who might never have found me otherwise.
To my family and friends—thank you. For proofreading posts, offering advice, looking after my children so I could teach, and cheering me on when I doubted myself. You’ve been the quiet strength that’s helped me stand tall.
And to my children: thank you for being amazing. For “getting on with something” when I needed to teach online. For your patience, your humour, and your hugs at just the right time.
But then, something shifted.
I realised I’m grateful to me.
For believing in myself.
For taking the leap.
For building a business I’m proud of.
That kind of self-gratitude isn’t always easy to name. But it’s powerful. It’s the kind that reminds us we’re allowed to celebrate our courage, our resilience, and our growth.
So if you’re reading this and wondering whether you can do the thing you’ve been dreaming about—you can. Never underestimate what you’re capable of.
Self-efficacy is the belief in one’s ability to succeed in specific situations. It’s the mindset that turns possibility into progress
With gratitude, always,
Gemma
